Tazapay Partners with iPiD for Payee Verification in Cross-Border Payments

Financial institutions are under growing pressure to improve verification controls as cross-border payment volumes surge and fraud tactics become increasingly sophisticated. Tazapay’s partnership with iPiD reflects a wider industry shift toward embedding verification directly into payment infrastructure rather than relying on manual compliance checks after transactions are initiated.

Cross-border payments platform Tazapay has announced a strategic partnership with iPiD to integrate real-time payee verification capabilities into its international transaction infrastructure. The collaboration embeds the Know Your Payee technology of iPiD directly into the platform of Tazapay, allowing enterprise clients to validate recipient account details before dispatching funds across global markets. This feature is designed to mitigate fraud risks, payment errors, and transaction failures within high-growth commercial corridors.

The validation infrastructure operates through a unified API that facilitates instant beneficiary name matching and account checks across diverse payment networks, removing the need for merchants to manage multiple local system integrations. Tazapay currently provides local payment collection and payout infrastructure across more than 70 markets, utilising alternative payment channels, virtual bank accounts, and stablecoin to fiat settlement options. The fintech platform serves a client base of over 1,000 corporate enterprises across 30 countries and handles billions of dollars in annualised payment volumes.

The implementation occurs at a time when digital payment providers face increasing regulatory and operational pressure to enhance data verification protocols, driven by the expansion of stablecoin settlements and emerging market corridors. Damien Dugauquier, Co-Founder and CEO of iPiD, emphasised that as cross-border commerce scales, verification cannot be treated as an afterthought. Aayush Singhania, Chief Product Officer at Tazapay, added that the integration ensures businesses can confirm exactly where capital is heading before an international transfer is initiated. Tazapay also recently expanded its capital base, extending its Series B funding round with backing from digital asset investors including Circle Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, and CMT Digital.

What this means for the industry

  • Cross-border payments are moving toward “verified by default” models
Real-time payee verification is becoming a critical layer in international payments infrastructure, particularly as instant settlement expectations increase.
  • Stablecoin-linked payment flows require stronger identity controls
As fintechs increasingly combine stablecoin rails with traditional fiat settlement systems, beneficiary verification becomes essential for reducing compliance and fraud exposure.
  • Payment providers are under pressure to reduce failed transactions
Incorrect beneficiary details remain a major cause of delays, reversals, and operational costs in cross-border commerce. Automated account validation helps improve straight-through processing rates.
  • Unified APIs are replacing fragmented local integrations
Platforms that can offer verification across multiple countries through a single API layer may gain an advantage over providers relying on country-by-country banking integrations.
  • Enterprise clients increasingly expect embedded compliance tools
Businesses moving money internationally want fraud prevention and account validation built directly into the payment flow rather than handled through separate operational processes.
  • Emerging market payment corridors remain a major growth opportunity
Verification capabilities are becoming particularly important in high-growth corridors where banking standards, account formats, and local payment schemes vary significantly across regions.
