NORD/LB Expands Finastra Partnership to Modernise Corporate Lending Operations

Corporate lending remains one of the most operationally complex areas inside banking, with many institutions still relying on fragmented systems, manual data entry, and paper-heavy workflows. As banks face growing pressure to improve turnaround times and client experience, lenders are increasingly investing in integrated digital platforms that can automate internal processes while simplifying interactions for corporate borrowers.

NORD/LB is expanding its partnership with Finastra as the German lender looks to modernise its lending infrastructure and streamline operational workflows across its corporate banking division.

The bank plans to deploy Finastra’s Loan IQ Nexus integration layer alongside the Loan Portal platform, building on its existing use of the Loan IQ lending system. The new additions are designed to reduce operational complexity, improve processing speed, and create a more seamless experience for both employees and corporate clients.

Loan IQ Nexus will act as an automated integration layer connecting the bank’s internal systems, helping eliminate repetitive manual data entry across multiple platforms. By improving how information moves between systems, the bank aims to reduce administrative overhead, increase accuracy, and accelerate lending decisions.

Meanwhile, the Loan Portal platform will provide corporate clients with a dedicated digital environment where they can submit financing applications, upload supporting documentation, and track the progress of requests online. The move is expected to reduce reliance on email-based communication, physical paperwork, and manual status updates.

The implementation reflects a broader trend across the banking sector, where financial institutions are modernising commercial lending operations to support faster onboarding, improved transparency, and more scalable digital servicing models.

NORD/LB is one of Germany’s largest Landesbanks, with a strong focus on renewable energy, structured finance, and commercial real estate financing. The latest rollout further deepens its long-standing relationship with Finastra, with implementation work already underway and go-live expected within the next two years.
