Binance is widening access to institutional crypto financing as competition intensifies among exchanges to attract high-volume traders and professional market participants. By lowering the eligibility threshold for its Institutional Loan product and increasing leverage limits, the exchange is positioning itself to capture a larger share of institutional trading activity while offering clients more flexible ways to deploy capital across digital asset markets. The move also reflects how crypto exchanges are increasingly evolving beyond retail-focused platforms into full-scale financial infrastructure providers offering lending, liquidity and treasury management services for institutional investors.
Binance has announced a significant expansion of its Binance Institutional Loan product, making the service available to all KYB-verified VIP clients. This update represents a major shift from the previous eligibility requirement, which was restricted to users at VIP level 5 or above. The broadening of access is intended to meet the rising demand for capital-efficient borrowing structures as institutional participation in digital asset markets intensifies. Catherine Chen, Head of VIP and Institutional at Binance, noted that the product allows clients to borrow against their combined account equity without moving collateral between accounts.
Effective June 1, 2026, the platform is introducing an Interest Rebate Program that enables borrowers to qualify for full monthly interest rebates. Eligibility for these rebates is tied to specific performance targets, including incremental trading volume share, net asset value, or open interest. The program applies to borrowing in USDT, USDC, BTC, and United Stables ($U), with a limit of $10 million. To further enhance capital efficiency, Binance has raised the leverage cap from 4x to 5x for all eligible clients. Additionally, the initial loan-to-value (LTV) ratio has increased to 80%, while the transfer-out LTV has been raised to 83%.
The expanded service now includes fixed-rate term loans with terms of 30, 60, and 90 days, providing institutional borrowers with greater predictability of their financing costs. Clients can aggregate collateral across up to 10 subaccounts to borrow between $1 million and $10 million for margin and futures trading. While these enhancements offer greater flexibility, the exchange maintained its margin call and liquidation LTV thresholds at 85% and 90%, respectively, to manage risk. This initiative aligns with Binance’s broader goal of providing robust infrastructure and personalised services to its growing base of more than 310 million global users.
