Questrade Selects Temenos SaaS Core Banking Platform to Power Questbank Launch in Canada

Temenos has announced that Questrade Financial Group has gone live with Temenos Core Banking SaaS as the foundation for its new regulated banking entity, Questbank. The deployment marks a major step in Questrade’s expansion beyond investing and wealth management as it prepares to introduce a broader suite of banking products to the Canadian market.

The cloud-native platform will support Questbank’s rollout of deposit and mortgage products while enabling the scalability, resilience, and real-time processing capabilities needed to serve millions of Canadian customers. Questrade said the implementation is designed to accelerate product innovation while maintaining the reliability and compliance standards expected within Canada’s regulated banking environment.

According to the company, the Temenos SaaS platform enabled the rapid configuration of banking products in alignment with requirements from the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI). The modern architecture is also expected to support more intelligent and data-driven banking experiences through real-time access to operational and customer data.

David Furlong, Chief Operating Officer at Questbank, said the company’s strategy is focused on giving Canadians better tools to achieve financial security while improving speed to market and operational agility. He added that Temenos provided both the composable core infrastructure and specialized expertise needed to support the bank’s launch roadmap.

For Temenos, the deployment represents another strategic expansion in the North American banking market, where the company continues to strengthen its SaaS banking footprint. William Moroney, Chief Revenue Officer at Temenos, described the go-live as an important milestone that highlights growing demand for cloud-native banking infrastructure across the region.

The move also reflects a broader trend across the financial services industry, where non-traditional banking players and digital-first financial firms are increasingly launching regulated banking entities supported by modern SaaS core banking platforms.

What this means for the industry

  • Wealth management and fintech firms are increasingly moving into full-service banking as they seek deeper customer relationships and diversified revenue streams.
  • Cloud-native SaaS core banking platforms are becoming the preferred infrastructure model for new banking launches due to faster deployment cycles and lower operational complexity.
  • Real-time banking architectures are shifting from being a competitive advantage to becoming a baseline expectation for digital banking providers.
  • The Canadian banking market could see increased competition as digital-first financial firms expand into regulated banking with modern technology stacks.
  • Temenos continues to strengthen its position in North America as regional banks, fintechs, and new entrants accelerate core modernization strategies.
