Perpetuals Debuts Quantum-Resilient Financial Encryption

As quantum computing advances, financial institutions are beginning to confront a new generation of cybersecurity threats that could render today’s encryption standards obsolete. Sensitive financial data secured using traditional cryptographic methods may eventually become vulnerable to powerful quantum machines capable of breaking current encryption algorithms. Perpetuals’ launch of a Quantum-Resilience-as-a-Service platform reflects the growing urgency for banks, payment networks, and trading platforms to begin strengthening their security frameworks before quantum capabilities reach practical scale.

Nasdaq-listed fintech Perpetuals has officially unveiled its Quantum-Resilience-as-a-Service (QRaaS), a specialised security offering designed to shield the financial sector from the looming threat of quantum computing. The service aims to bolster the encryption of financial institutions, trading platforms, and payment networks without requiring a complete overhaul of their current IT infrastructure. This launch addresses a critical harvest now, decrypt later risk, where sensitive data is stolen today with the intent of breaking its encryption once sufficiently powerful quantum machines become available. Recent research from Google Quantum AI suggests that a superconducting quantum computer could crack the elliptic-curve cryptography (ECC) securing major blockchain transactions in mere minutes, highlighting the urgency of this transition.

The technical core of the QRaaS offering focuses on strengthening the foundation of all encryption: entropy. Most modern cryptographic standards, such as RSA, AES, and TLS, rely on random number generation that could become predictable or breakable under quantum analysis. Perpetual’s solution integrates with these existing environments by supplying quantum-resilient entropy. Improving the randomness and unpredictability of cryptographic keys during generation makes them significantly more difficult to crack, even for quantum-assisted attackers. This plug-and-play approach allows organisations to upgrade their security posture immediately without the disruption of implementing entirely new post-quantum cryptographic algorithms.

To facilitate deployment, Perpetuals has developed a range of hardware and software integration options. These include dedicated PCIe-based Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) hardware designed for direct installation within client rack infrastructure, spanning colocation and managed server environments. For firms seeking a more flexible approach, the company also offers an Entropy-as-a-Service API, enabling developers to integrate quantum-grade randomness into cloud applications. The service is currently hosted in carrier-grade data centres across Germany and the United States, ensuring low-latency access for the world’s primary financial hubs.

Patrick Gruhn, CEO of Perpetuals, stated that while the maturity of large-scale quantum systems is still evolving, the need for stronger entropy is a present-day requirement for any organisation handling high-value data. The QRaaS platform includes built-in monitoring, audit trails, and compliance controls to help institutions meet increasingly stringent regulatory standards for data protection. This milestone confirms that the convergence of quantum-safe hardware and legacy financial systems is becoming a mandatory defensive layer for the digital economy. As the Quantum Decade progresses through 2026, the ability to generate and manage resilient cryptographic keys will likely become a key differentiator for trust in global finance.

What this means for the industry

  • Quantum security is moving from theory to preparation. Financial institutions are starting to adopt quantum-resilient technologies proactively rather than waiting for large-scale quantum computers to emerge.
  • Encryption upgrades must work with existing infrastructure. Solutions that enhance current systems, rather than requiring full cryptographic replacements, will accelerate adoption across banks and trading platforms.
  • Entropy is becoming a strategic cybersecurity asset. Improving the randomness used to generate cryptographic keys significantly strengthens defences against future quantum-enabled attacks.
  • Financial services are a prime target. High-value data, long-term transaction records, and blockchain assets make the banking sector particularly vulnerable to “harvest now, decrypt later” threats.
  • Regulators will likely push for quantum-safe standards. As awareness grows, financial authorities may begin encouraging or mandating quantum-resilient security measures to protect critical financial infrastructure.
