FIS has launched its Digital One™ Commercial platform across the Asia-Pacific region, completing the solution’s global rollout and bringing the platform to financial institutions throughout APAC, EMEA and the Americas. The expansion comes as banks across the region continue investing in commercial banking modernisation to replace fragmented country-specific systems with unified digital platforms capable of supporting businesses of every size. With corporate banking technology spending continuing to rise and demand growing for cross-border services, real-time payments and integrated treasury capabilities, the launch reflects a broader shift towards flexible, platform-based banking infrastructure that can evolve without requiring wholesale core banking replacement.
Built to Support Every Business Customer
Digital One Commercial has been developed as a core-agnostic, API-first platform that enables banks to serve small businesses, mid-market organisations and large corporate customers through a single digital environment. Rather than replacing existing core banking platforms, the solution integrates with current infrastructure, allowing institutions to modernise customer-facing services while protecting previous technology investments.
The platform supports business banking across the full money lifecycle, including payments, cash management, trade finance, foreign exchange and treasury services. It also supports real-time, multi-rail payments through regional payment schemes such as PayNow, FAST and GIRO alongside SWIFT and ISO messaging standards, providing banks with a consistent operating model across multiple markets.
This approach aligns with a growing industry move towards composable banking architectures, where institutions add new digital capabilities without undertaking lengthy core replacement programmes, a trend we recently explored in The Next Banking Platform Won’t Be Built. It’ll Be Assembled.
Addressing APAC’s Complex Banking Landscape
Commercial banking transformation presents unique challenges across Asia-Pacific. Banks often operate different digital platforms for SME, corporate and institutional customers while simultaneously managing varying regulatory frameworks, localisation requirements and data sovereignty obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
Digital One Commercial has been designed to simplify that complexity. Native support for English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Bahasa Indonesia and Vietnamese, together with multi-currency and multi-time-zone capabilities, enables financial institutions to serve multiple countries from a single platform instance while delivering more consistent customer experiences.
The platform also provides direct integration with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and accounting systems, allowing businesses to initiate banking activities directly within their existing financial workflows rather than switching between separate treasury and banking applications.
Growing Demand for Commercial Banking Modernisation
The timing of the launch reflects accelerating investment across the sector. According to Celent, corporate banking IT spending in APAC increased by 5.5% during 2025 and is expected to grow by a further 6.2% in 2026 as banks continue prioritising client lifecycle management and digital commercial banking capabilities.
While many retail banking platforms have undergone significant digital transformation over the past decade, commercial banking environments have often remained fragmented, with separate systems supporting different customer segments and individual countries. That fragmentation can slow product launches, increase operational costs and make it more difficult to deliver consistent digital experiences to business customers operating across multiple markets.
As institutions modernise these environments, vendors are increasingly focusing on modular platforms that integrate with existing infrastructure rather than replacing it entirely.
Proven Regional Deployment
FIS said a leading Asia-Pacific financial institution is already operating Digital One Commercial across 15 countries through a single deployment, supporting approximately 350,000 business customers and more than one million end users.
According to the company, the implementation has helped accelerate product delivery while reducing the operational complexity associated with maintaining multiple country-specific commercial banking platforms.
Peter Boyer, Co-President of Banking Solutions at FIS, said many banks across APAC continue to operate commercial banking technology designed for individual markets rather than the region as a whole. He said the opportunity lies in helping institutions consolidate commercial banking operations onto a unified platform capable of serving every business segment while supporting future regional growth.
Colin Kerr, Head of Banking and Payments at Celent, added that financial institutions are increasingly prioritising flexible, integration-led architectures that operate alongside existing core banking systems while delivering more consistent client experiences across domestic and cross-border banking services.
The announcement also reinforces FIS’ continued investment in commercial banking technology following recent innovations including FIS Launches Treasury and Risk Manager – Treasury GPT, highlighting the company’s broader strategy of modernising treasury, payments and corporate banking infrastructure through next-generation digital platforms.
