Equifax Partners with Poland’s BIK to Expand Identity and Fraud Solutions

As fraudsters increasingly use artificial intelligence, synthetic identities and sophisticated digital impersonation techniques, financial institutions are under pressure to strengthen identity verification without adding friction to customer experiences. The new partnership between Equifax and Poland’s leading credit bureau BIK reflects a growing industry trend toward combining multiple data sources, behavioural analytics and real-time intelligence to create more resilient fraud prevention frameworks. The move highlights how identity has become one of the most critical battlegrounds in digital banking and lending.

Equifax UK and Biuro Informacji Kredytowej S.A. (BIK), Poland’s primary credit bureau, have announced a strategic partnership to broaden client access to their respective identity verification and fraud prevention capabilities. The collaboration is designed to provide businesses with advanced defensive infrastructure to counter increasingly sophisticated transactional threats, such as identity spoofing and artificial intelligence-driven fraud, while facilitating more secure digital customer journeys.

Through this alliance, BIK will integrate a suite of advanced identity and fraud services from Equifax into its existing credit intelligence framework. Layering global data insights with BIK’s specialised behavioural verification expertise enables organisations to analyse user interaction patterns in real time. This multi-signal approach improves the precision of illicit activity detection without introducing friction for genuine consumers. The joint initiative supports lenders and businesses across the financial ecosystem by aligning with a broader industry shift toward data-driven risk assessment and financial inclusion, utilising richer data assets to improve credit and fraud decisioning for underserved populations.

David Bernard, CEO of Equifax UK&I, stated that as identity threats become more sophisticated, businesses require a resilient, layered approach to protection that combines behavioural insights with extensive data assets to secure digital interactions across Poland, the UK, and international markets. Mariusz Cholewa, PhD, President of the Management Board at BIK, added that effective fraud prevention depends on the convergence of multiple distinct digital signals, and the partnership expands the Polish market’s access to leading international data capabilities. The deployment leverages Equifax’s cloud technology and analytical infrastructure, which operates data networks across 24 countries.

What this means for the industry

  • Banks are moving beyond traditional identity checks and adopting layered fraud prevention that combines data, behavioural analytics and real-time risk signals.
  • AI-generated fraud, synthetic identities and digital impersonation are driving increased investment in advanced verification technologies.
  • Credit bureaus are evolving into broader digital trust and fraud intelligence providers rather than focusing solely on credit data.
  • Cross-border data partnerships are becoming more important as fraud networks operate across multiple markets and jurisdictions.
  • The combination of behavioural insights and large-scale data assets helps improve fraud detection while reducing friction for legitimate customers.
