ADIB Launches Mobile Salary Payment Service for UAE Employers

ADIB Launches Mobile Salary Payment Service for UAE Employers

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has launched a new digital salary payment service that enables employers across the UAE to manage Wage Protection System (WPS) salary payments directly through the bank’s digital banking platforms. The move reflects the growing convergence of banking services and regulatory compliance, as financial institutions increasingly embed government-mandated processes into everyday digital banking experiences.

ADIB’s new service allows individual employers to register and pay employee salaries through the ADIB Mobile Banking app, while corporate employers can access the functionality via the ADIB Direct platform.

Developed in collaboration with Al Etihad Payments (AEP) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), the solution is fully aligned with the UAE’s Wage Protection System framework and aims to simplify salary compliance for employers.

As one of the first banks in the UAE to offer WPS functionality directly through its digital banking channels, ADIB is seeking to reduce administrative complexity while improving payroll accuracy and regulatory reporting.

Bringing Payroll Compliance Into Banking Apps

The integrated service allows employers to retrieve and verify employee information, validate salary records, and submit reports covering paid and unpaid salaries together with the required justifications.

The platform also introduces in-country employee verification capabilities, helping employers meet compliance obligations while strengthening transparency and auditability.

By providing direct access to MoHRE databases through ADIB’s secure digital banking infrastructure, the solution eliminates the need for physical documentation and manual processing steps that have traditionally added time and complexity to payroll administration.

Expanding the Role of Digital Banking

The launch highlights how banks are increasingly extending beyond traditional payment and account services to become platforms for business operations and regulatory compliance.

For employers, the service provides greater visibility, control, and efficiency when managing salary obligations. For ADIB, it strengthens the bank’s position within the UAE’s rapidly evolving digital financial ecosystem.

As regulatory requirements continue to become more digital, banks that integrate compliance workflows directly into their platforms are likely to play a larger role in helping businesses manage both financial and administrative responsibilities through a single interface.

What this means for the industry

  • Banks are increasingly embedding regulatory compliance services directly into digital banking platforms.
  • Payroll processing is evolving from a standalone HR function into a banking-integrated service.
  • UAE financial institutions are using digital channels to simplify compliance with government frameworks such as WPS.
  • The move strengthens the role of banks as operational platforms for businesses, not just providers of financial products.
  • Expect more partnerships between banks, regulators, and payment infrastructure providers to streamline compliance-heavy processes.
