Saudi Arabia’s financial services landscape continues to evolve as organisations outside traditional banking look to capture opportunities in digital finance. Telecommunications providers, with their extensive customer reach and digital capabilities, are increasingly well positioned to deliver embedded financial services. GO Telecom’s expansion into digital lending reflects this shift, combining modern banking technology with a fully digital customer experience to support retail financing, financial inclusion and the Kingdom’s broader digital transformation agenda. As highlighted in Saudi Arabia and UAE Banks Lead MENA Banking Technology Investment, investment in modern banking platforms continues to accelerate across the region.
GO Telecom Group has officially entered the financial services sector with the launch of GO Money, a new digital lending business powered by Temenos Core and Temenos Digital for Retail Banking.
The Saudi telecommunications operator is using the Temenos platform to offer fully digital, Sharia-compliant lending products, initially targeting retail customers and the micro-financing market.
To support the new business, GO Telecom has implemented Temenos modules covering loan origination, loan servicing, collections, Financial Crime Mitigation (FCM) and Islamic finance. The implementation was delivered in partnership with Temenos delivery partner Ejada.
The new platform is designed to simplify customer onboarding, automate lending processes and improve operational efficiency while delivering a seamless digital borrowing experience. The initiative also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to expand access to digital financial services and strengthen financial inclusion.
The announcement reflects a broader trend across the Middle East, where organisations beyond traditional banks are leveraging banking technology platforms to launch new financial products. Similar digital-first strategies can also be seen in Warba Bank Launches Agentic AI Banking Assistant “Bdr AI”, where artificial intelligence is being embedded into everyday banking experiences to simplify customer interactions and expand digital capabilities.
Yahya Almansour, Group CEO of GO Telecom and Chairman of GO Money, described the launch as a major milestone in the company’s evolution, saying the expansion into financial services reinforces its commitment to innovation and delivering integrated digital solutions for customers.
Saleh Mutaleb Alanazi, CEO of GO Money, said the Temenos platform provides the flexibility and scalability required to introduce Sharia-compliant lending products while delivering a fully digital, straight-through processing experience.
Santhosh Rao, Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa at Temenos, said the deployment demonstrates how banking technology is supporting the growing convergence between telecommunications and financial services, allowing new entrants to launch digital banking services quickly and efficiently.
The project also reinforces Temenos’ position in the Middle East, where demand for modern banking platforms continues to grow as financial institutions and new market entrants modernise their technology infrastructure. Similar technology transformation initiatives are also driving cross-border innovation, as seen in Shinhan Bank Selects StoneX Payments as Strategic Cross-Border Payments Partner, where banks are adopting specialist technology platforms to expand digital financial services.
