FIS Supports BMW Bank’s Digital Transformation to Drive Deposit Growth

BMW Bank is accelerating its digital banking capabilities through a partnership with FIS, as it looks to modernise its deposit infrastructure and support future growth in Germany’s competitive banking market.

Global financial technology provider FIS (NYSE: FIS) is supporting BMW Bank GmbH in Germany with a digital transformation initiative designed to accelerate deposit growth and modernise banking operations.

The project involves a deposits-as-a-service solution built on the FIS K-CORE24 core banking platform and the FIS K-e-Banking digital platform. The system went live in the second quarter of 2025, with more than 300,000 deposit accounts successfully migrated to the new technology environment.

According to FIS’ Harmony Gap research report, more than half of organisations cite operational efficiency as the biggest challenge impacting their business performance. As a result, financial institutions are increasingly investing in new technologies to streamline operations, improve customer experiences and support long-term growth.

The collaboration with BMW Bank highlights FIS’ strategy of enabling banks to embed financial services within digital ecosystems. By integrating deposit accounts and related services into digital platforms, the solution helps banks deliver faster and more seamless financial transactions while improving customer service capabilities.

The implementation provides BMW Bank with a tailored deposit-as-a-service capability that includes FIS K-CORE24, a core banking platform designed specifically for the German banking market. It is complemented by the FIS K-e-Banking platform, which delivers a modern and secure digital banking experience with features such as two-factor authentication and integrated merchant services that support direct transaction processing between merchants and the bank.

Together, the platforms aim to create a more secure, efficient and user-friendly banking experience for both the bank and its customers.

Kanv Pandit, Head of International Banking and Payments Sales at FIS, said the partnership demonstrates how technology can help financial institutions modernise their operations while supporting growth.

He noted that many banks are seeking ways to simplify processes across the financial lifecycle, and projects like this show how digital platforms can improve efficiency while enhancing the overall banking experience.

Stephan Cohnen, Chief Operating Officer of BMW Bank GmbH, said the transition to the FIS platform represents an important milestone for the bank.

He added that as customer expectations continue to evolve in Germany’s banking sector, financial institutions need digital-first solutions that enable greater operational efficiency while supporting business growth and delivering improved customer experiences.
