First American Bank and Trust Selects Jack Henry to Power Growth

For many community banks, digital transformation is no longer just about improving customer experience. It is increasingly about resilience, scalability and the ability to compete with larger institutions without sacrificing local relationships. First American Bank and Trust’s decision to migrate to Jack Henry’s cloud-based infrastructure highlights how smaller banks are using modern core platforms and open ecosystems to strengthen operations and expand digital capabilities.

First American Bank and Trust, a privately owned community bank managing $1.4 billion in assets, has selected financial technology provider Jack Henry & Associates, Inc. (Nasdaq: JKHY) to orchestrate its next phase of operational growth. Operating 25 branch locations across Southeast Louisiana, the financial institution plans to utilise Jack Henry’s cloud-native core architecture to modernise its infrastructure, improve its digital user experience, and reinforce operational resilience against severe weather disruption.

As a primary structural shift, the Louisiana-based bank will transition its complete back-end transaction environment from an on-premises, in-house setup to Jack Henry’s managed hosted model. Operating within a secure, hosted private cloud layer allows the institution to automate disaster recovery failovers and maintain business continuity, a critical operational requirement for a financial network situated in a region frequently impacted by major Gulf hurricanes. To revamp its retail consumer interface, the bank will deploy the Banno Digital Platform™, embedding native financial health tools such as real-time credit score tracking and automated predictive cash-flow insights directly into its mobile and desktop banking portals.

To accelerate market share within its expanding commercial portfolio, First American Bank and Trust will deploy Tap2Local™, an integrated small business solution designed to streamline digital payment acceptance and automated accounting reconciliation for merchant clients. The modernisation strategy relies heavily on Jack Henry’s open API ecosystem, which allows the bank to plug into more than 1,000 pre-integrated, third-party fintech applications. Ronnie Falgoust, President and CEO of First American Bank and Trust, stated that Jack Henry’s continuous public cloud innovation and strong support model will enable the community bank to compete effectively against national institutions while retaining its localised service approach. Jonathan Baltzell, President of Bank Solutions at Jack Henry, added that the infrastructure upgrade positions the community lender to scale its lending operations and cement its role as a primary financial centre for local accountholders.

What this means for the industry

  • Community banks are accelerating their shift away from on-premises infrastructure in favour of managed cloud environments that offer greater resilience and scalability.
  • Operational continuity and disaster recovery are becoming key drivers of core modernisation, particularly in regions exposed to climate and weather-related risks.
  • Open API ecosystems are allowing smaller institutions to access fintech innovation without the complexity of building capabilities internally.
  • Digital banking platforms are evolving beyond transactions, with financial wellness tools and predictive insights becoming standard customer expectations.
  • Banks are increasingly targeting small businesses with integrated payment and cash management services to deepen relationships and grow fee income.
  • Technology partnerships are enabling regional and community banks to compete more effectively with national institutions while maintaining their local service model.
  • Cloud-native infrastructure is becoming a strategic necessity rather than a technology upgrade as banks prepare for future growth and changing customer expectations.
