For more than a century, community banks have built their reputation on personal relationships and local service. As customer expectations rapidly shift toward seamless digital experiences, institutions like Clear Mountain Bank are investing in modern banking platforms that combine advanced technology with the familiar “hometown” approach their customers value.
Clear Mountain Bank, a community institution with over 130 years of history in North Central West Virginia and western Maryland, has officially launched the Alkami Digital Banking Platform. This digital overhaul is designed to provide retail and business customers with high-end financial tools typically reserved for larger national institutions while maintaining the “hometown experience” central to the bank’s identity. The rollout, announced on March 19, 2026, marks a significant step in the bank’s strategy to compete effectively in an increasingly digital-first landscape.
The new platform introduces several critical features for the bank’s diverse client base. Business customers now have access to integrated Positive Pay and ACH Reporting capabilities, which are essential for enhancing fraud prevention and providing greater transaction visibility. On the retail side, the technology leverages account-opening solutions from MANTL, which was acquired by Alkami in early 2025, to streamline onboarding. This allows new customers to open deposit accounts in as little as three to five minutes, significantly reducing the friction traditionally associated with switching financial institutions.
Following the successful launch of the core platform, Clear Mountain Bank is preparing to deploy the Alkami Data and Marketing Solution. This tool is designed to harness actionable transaction data, allowing the bank to move toward a model of “Anticipatory Banking.” By analysing customer behaviour, the bank can proactively identify financial needs and connect customers with relevant products before they even request them. Tim Boyles, the Chief Experience Officer at Clear Mountain Bank, noted that this data-driven approach will help the institution identify needs sooner without losing the personal touch that sets them apart.
The bank, which currently holds approximately 984.88 million dollars in total assets, has a history of adopting advanced technology to fuel growth. In late 2021, the institution implemented the Micronotes Digital Prescreen platform to enhance its lending strategy with precision credit insights. The transition to the Alkami ecosystem represents a continuation of this innovation-led culture. By pairing advanced digital capabilities with a strong relationship-driven philosophy, the bank aims to drive engagement and sustainable growth across its 13 branch locations.
As the financial sector faces increasing pressure from larger digital-only competitors, community banks like Clear Mountain are proving that local service and cutting-edge technology are not mutually exclusive. The implementation of a scalable, intuitive interface across all devices ensures that customers have consistent access to their finances, whether in a branch or on a mobile device. This strategic modernisation positions the bank to build deeper customer loyalty by delivering the sophisticated tools modern consumers expect.
The partnership with Alkami puts Clear Mountain Bank in a cohort of forward-thinking institutions, including several large credit unions, that have adopted the same integrated stack for onboarding and engagement. As the Data and Marketing Solution moves from the planning phase to active deployment, the bank expects to see a measurable impact on its cross-selling efficiency and customer retention. This rollout serves as a blueprint for how community financial institutions can thrive by blending tradition with technical excellence.
